KOMODO NASIONAL PARK

Komodo national park, the home of carnivorous komodo dragon (a meat-eating lizard that grows up to three maters in leght), encomphasses over 173.300 hectares of surface area and comprises 40.728 hectares of land and 132.572 hectares of sea. The three largest islands in the park are Komodo, Rinca, and Padar. Most of the parkland is dry, rugged and hilly with the highestpoint being mount Satalibo at 735 m. Borassus palm savannah cover nearly 70% of the land area. The climate is arid with a prologed dry season for most of the year, and the rainy season through january and febuary. The scientists have identified over 80 species of plants and 300 species of animals in the park. The seas surrouning Komodo teem with marine life over 1000 species of fish, 18 species of cetaceans, 2 species of turtle, 260 species of coral and 70 species of sponges. Because of the clear warm water, Komodo is considered one of the best dive site in the world. Komodo dragons only found in Indonesia, and their habitats are only on a few islands such as Komodo island, Rinca, Padar, Nusa Kode, Gili Motang (which all these islands are within Komodo National Park).

 

WAE REBO TRADITIONAL VILLAGE

Wae Rebo is an old original village that located in the southern part of Ruteng, Manggarai regency, precisely in the middle of the forest of Todo.
